Inspired by Susan Kong, here are some highlights I've had thus far in Ecuador:
1) Waking up to the sun rising over the Andes Mountains
2) Kim and Ashley making it here safely (and bringing me 'Ohs' cereal and cider mill donuts!!)
3) Pedicures for $4
4) Maria's fantastic Ecuadorian cooking
5) Playing High School Musical DDR with Lydia Whitehead (cousin) and friends (and ROCKING it!)
6) Receiving a Spanish Bible from Maria
7) My hair curling everyday because of the humidity
8) Lunches for $1.50 and dinners for $4
9) Morning devotions with Maria (in Spanish!)
10) Daily hugs and kisses from the kids at CELE (school) and Casa de Fe (orphanage) :-)
Love you! Love reading your updates!! Praying!

ReplyDeleteMiss you terribly, but in the same momment, I also love to see you spread God's hands by your actions and words. Grace B said, she thinks of you girls often and how you walked right up to Mr B room, to say Hi. You really touch both of their hearts. Had an increadable VIP banquet. Chuck and Amy were guest speakers along with the GLBC singers. Josephine D also said to say hi to both of you and how proud she is of you actions. Milow is becoming quite a lovebug, although he too shows signs of missing you. Oliver is Oliver and Fluffy is being a bad boy.
I'd love to see your hair curly. Need to post photo. Please do not post any photos of your class, but I'd love to hear about the youth. Mark gave a great testimony about Mr. B., which you can use. Mr. B made his biggest impact on the youth, by not what the lesson was, but how he taught it. If children like what they learn, they will remember. Order and respect is very, very important, but at the end of the day, love wins.
It sounds as though you are truly being Blessed by Maria and her Grand daughter. Maybe you can send a note to your students of last year, via Soloman, and tell them how you are learning Spanish. I'm sure some of them would like to hear from you. I know I would.
Can't wait to see and hear your voice's. Love you ~ Dad
Kristin, Kim and Ashley!!
ReplyDeleteOh I miss you girls and am so jealous that I am not there with you!
I am praying for you during this time of transition and service!
Kristin...I think this experience might turn you into an elementary teacher! Don't you just love the hugs?? I want to hear more about school and what it's like there and what you teach!
Kim and Ash...tell me about your hospital and orphanage situations!
Also...how else can I pray for you!?!?!?
PS...kim don't clog any toilets!
